Job description:
I will assist Kurt Krusen D.V.M. with pet handling, administering vaccinations, cleaning, office exams, surgeries, and anything else he may need to run his small animal practice.
Learning Objectives:
1. To compare and contrast veterinary and human medicine
Activities/resources:
- Observe how handling animals is different from people
- Observe patient interactions
- Analyze how a routine appointment would change if the patient was human
Evaluation/verification:
- Journal comparing and contrasting difference in patient handling and care
2. To better understand the components of veterinary medicine, especially in a small animal practice
Activities/resources:
- Observe the routine tasks involved in vet medicine
- Read and learn about symptoms and treatments
- Observe the diagnosing process
- Observe patient handling and interactions
Evaluation/verification:
- Pictures of different procedures
- List and description of skills and techniques learned during internship
